Day 5 — Word of the Day Poem

Word: Spire

(noun) a tapering conical or pyramidal structure on the top of a building, typically a church tower.

the continuation of a tree trunk above the point where branching begins, especially in a tree of a tapering form.

a long tapering object “spires of delphiniums”

Synonyms: steeple, belfry, shikara

The Spires

As I arrived in the limousine

Gazing out the window at the grandeur.

The church, made of stone, showing strength

Its spires, standing tall against the sky,

Like beacons for lost souls.

The driver opened my door, and as I

stepped out into the cool, crisp air

I realized that once I walk into that place

Where strength and love can be found

Between the spires,

My life shall be forever changed.

The ceremony over, the people all gather outside,

We walk together, out the doors to cheers and greetings.

Before I am whisked away, I turn to once again

Look at where all our lives changed that day

When we walked in, between the spires.
